Where Have All The Cowboys Gone?

I am looking for a handful of students who are willing to stand up, be on mission, who are solid.  These students must be solid, maturing believers who are active in a community of faith.  I need some students to give away some free resources too, who want to start a Bible Study or Christian Organization on their campus.  If you are such a student or know of such a student, email me at jdanbarnes@yahoo.com.  Thanks Revolutionaries.

What is the RI- Updated

What Is the Revolution Inversion- Updated edition

The Revolution Inversion is the changing of the culture where we live, work, study and play in a positive direction. For years, society has pushed the boundaries of behavior, speech, dress and attitudes. They have thrown out respect, values and morality in exchange for instant gratification, selfishness and rebellion. It’s time for the Revolution from this generation to inverse, to move back to a trend of moral behavior and responsibility. Respect, love and dedication to God, their families and each other is the goal. This is the opposite of the moral depravity that we have today. Instead of Christian being fearful of what the world is doing, Atheists need to worry about the sweeping breath of belief and worship of the Lord Jesus Christ and a commitment to the Father.

Vision

The Vision of the Revolution Inversions share the good news of Jesus Christ with others by getting them involved in a small group, composed of an indigenous leader to grow the group and spread to many small groups. Those groups will either join together to form a larger organization and a network structure, or remain independent in cooperation to reach out. These groups will be in public schools, college dorms or unions, workplaces, neighborhoods, apartment complexes, mobile home parks, or anywhere people gather regularly.

Mission Statement

Our purpose is to deliberately display the love of Christ for our communities in a way that inspires them to become committed followers of Jesus Christ in fulfillment of the Great Commandment and Great Commission.

The Plan

The plan will begin with an individual or a group working build relationships with believers to form a core group. This group will commit to meet together on a regular basis for prayer and bible study. This group will work together to develop a set time and routine for what will grow into the Bible study. As the group grows, it can mature into a church, a network, or begin other small groups that remain independent.

The focus of the group must be the small groups. Any large group exists to bring the groups together for fellowship and worship on a regular basis. The large group meetings should be monthly or every other week. The large group should be for people to get to know one another, a time of worship and fellowship and large mission projects that include everyone. The main outreach is done in the small groups, and the large group should focus on those small groups, what groups are meeting and when, to make sure people can attend the group they desire to be in.

The Goal

The purpose of Revolution Inversion is to make a movement, to change lives, to change eternal destinations and to create a way to share Christ with the people you spend your time with. Thanks for joining us on this ride!

The RI Manifesto

The Revolution Inversion is a movement to turn the tide of rebellion to a positive direction. It is a push back to moral absolutes, truth and foundational doctrine, regardless of pressure, culture or societal pressure. The Revolutionaries will not be put in a box by tradition, by media, by social norms or societal stigmas. We will seek and find truth in the Word of God and in His truth, even when it conflicts with what the world, society, the media, the educational and religious systems.

We will stand on solid doctrine of the Scripture, the only source of truth and will look to the scripture for answers and guidance. We will pray for the Holy Spirit to give us wisdom, we will study and discuss together and we will be proactive to learn together. We will not be pushed and moved by every popular idea or opinion, but test it against the Word of God for it’s truth and validity. We will hold true to the foundations of our faith, such as Grace, Love, Holiness, Justice, Forgiveness and Compassion.

We as the Inversion Revolutionaries will no longer wait for the government, society or powers that be to lead off on our expressions of faith and our spiritual devotion. We will take the initiative, take the stand and respectfully practice our religious freedom in a way that honors our faith. We will no longer wait for the schools to ordain prayer, we will pray in school, we will study the Bible and we will meet and celebrate our faith. We will not seek to be disruptive, but we will seek to honor God and put Him first.

We will take initiative to share our faith in respectable ways with others, to seek to show love and grace and try to make the community a friendly place to be. We will seek to live like Jesus and love and minister to those who love us, disagree with us, discriminate against us and who oppose us. In all things we seek to be like Jesus, who was the Master Revolutionary.

As Revolutionaries, we will be radical in our faith. It will be more than just attending a church service, or being part of a group. Our faith will be real, lived out in authentic community with other believers. We will share, support, love and pray for our fellow Revolutionaries. We will celebrate together and fellowship together when ever and where ever possible. We will pray together, study the Bible together, celebrate and rejoice together. We will not be a click or a social group, but a transformed community of believers who want our faith to be more than just one small part of our lives. We will live a life that is radically transformed, and we will live it out in a world that can be counter to it. We will do what Jesus asks, go where Jesus calls and be who Jesus wants us to be. We will do all these things, not because we have to, but because we want to. We will give ourselves over to the passion in our hearts for Jesus Christ, and let that one thing be that which defines us. We will let our faith consume us, ignite and overtake us. We will be driven by love, not duty. We will be pushed by compassion, not guilt. We will be motivated by purpose, not obligation. We will love because we are loved, and it will transform us. Then, we will start a Revolution!

Power Snack

Do you ever feel like you don't have any time. Do you feel rushed to eat, rushed to get things done, and never get enough sleep at night? It's hard to find time to study the Bible during those times. That's why we created the power snack series. It's Bible study meant for a small group, 2-5 that can be done in about 10 to 15 minutes. Between classes, at lunch, before or after school, on the bus or in the car.

Titles are:
The Attributes of God
It's All About Jesus
Keys to New Life
Communication in Prayer
Ministry of the Holy Spirit

There will be more to come, and will be available in the RI store soon for minimal cost. If you are interested in previewing the material and reviewing it for us, please let me know at ri_ministries@yahoo.com. Thanks!

Prayer in School

This is something I have been thinking about a lot. Prayer in the public school. You see, before 1962, every day students would say the pledge and they would pray "Almighty God, we acknowledge our dependence upon thee and ask thy blessing on us, our parents, our teachers and our country".

Here we are in 2010, and there is no official prayer in the public school system, but that doesn't mean students don't have a right to pray. Here is my challenge, student pray together. Not just at See You At The Pole (which is great and you should attend) but every day by your class room, in the hall, where-ever. Prayer the prayer that was said back in the 60s, say it together in a circle, or stand up before the bell rings in class and say the prayer with other Christians. Prayer in school is part of our constitutional right, and we should practice it, at home, at work, at school, at play and anywhere else we go.

As you pray, pray honestly, pray to the Lord. Don't make a spectacle, don't pray in a loud or showy way, don't invite attention. The purpose of prayer is to life our lives up to God, depending upon Him, giving Him honor and glory. As you pray, pray for this purpose. If some mock you, ignore them and pray for them quietly. Don't announce "I'll pray for you, you heathen" cause that won't help. If others ask to join, let them join. This quiet activity will build community, spiritual growth and closeness as you pray together daily.

Manifesto

I am in the process of drafting the RI Manifesto. Here is the line along which I am thinking.

We as the Inversion Revolutionaries will no longer wait for the government, society or powers that be to lead off on our expressions of faith and our spiritual devotion. We will take the initiative, take the stand and respectfully practice our religious freedom in a way that honors our faith. We will no longer wait for the schools to ordain prayer, we will pray in school at a time that doesn't conflict with classroom or instruction time. We will study the Bible during times we will not conflict with instruction time, and we will meet and celebrate our faith.

Keep checking back as the Manifesto continues to develop. I would love to have your input.

The chain is your sin. Your sin holds you captive, and you can't escape. Every time you break God's law, every time you are selfish, cruel, have hate or bitterness. Every time you know something is wrong and do it anyway. Those sins have you in bondage.

The nail is the price required for sin. It's a symbol of death which Jesus paid for you. He took the nails into His wrists to take the penalty for your sin. He died so you don't have too suffer for eternity.

The key is your faith. It's trusting in Jesus, it's opening your heart and life to Jesus. It's when you stop trying to get it right on your own, when you stop trying to find the answers on your own. It's the key to eternal life, the key to filling the empty place in your heart. It's the key to freedom.

The heart is your new life in Christ. When you turn from your life of self rule and seek after Jesus, He gives you a new heart and a new life. When you pray and ask Jesus to come into your heart, He does and He will clean house.

The top and bottom are heaven and hell. Heaven is eternity with God, Hell is eternity seperated from God because of your sin. Where will you be?
